Goedopweg and the municipality of Utrecht are joining forces to improve bicycle friendliness in Utrecht Oost
Working together for a safer Utrecht Oost
Utrecht Oost (Utrecht Science Park and Rijnsweerd) is one of the busiest cycling areas in the Netherlands. To ensure that even more people can cycle to and through the area in a pleasant way, Goedopweg, in cooperation with the municipality of Utrecht, wants to promote cycling safety further. In fact, research shows that a greater sense of (cycling) safety encourages more people to travel by bike. For that reason, police and enforcement are going out for safe cycling in Utrecht Oost. Goedopweg supports Utrecht local authorities by holding talks with organisations, hospitals and educational institutions in the area. After all, they know what happens in the area and on the cycle path.
Extra bike checks in Utrecht Oost
In spring, enforcement officers from Utrecht municipality and the police will therefore carry out extra checks along the main cycling routes. Among other things, they will check the use of bicycle lights in the dark, the use of telephones on bicycles and safe crossing. A mobile bicycle mechanic will be present to repair any defects immediately at a reduced rate. It is intended as a friendly reminder that cycling safety is largely in your own hands. Together, we will make cycling in Utrecht Oost a little safer and everyone will enjoy travelling to and from work or school.
