Ginkgo moves to Science Park Zeist

Making Fungal Biology easier to engineer at Science Park Zeist.

Just before the holiday break Ginkgo Bioworks Netherlands opened their new facilities in Science Park Zeist. As was alluded to during the opening ceremony, for a number of the team members this feit like home-coming as only 5 years before the previous Dutch DNA team, now part of Ginkgo Bioworks, had moved out of the same site to move to Utrecht Science Park. Having spent there 5 years, more labspace was required and after thorough evaluations the decision was made in favor of this new location of Utrecht Science Park.

Just a few days before the opening, a magnificent piece of ornamental art created by the well-known sculptor Piet Warffemius was erected in the front garden. To everyone's surprise and truly coincidental the work was symbolizing a Ginkgo tree. As symbol of happiness and long life the team cherished this coincidence in our mission to make fungal biology easier to engineer.
