Collaboration Louis Bolk Institute and Utrecht University
During a festive and informative meeting on Wednesday 6 November, the Louis Bolk Institute and Utrecht University signed a so-called Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This expresses the parties' intention to work more closely together. The document was signed by Ilse Geijzendorffer (Louis Bolk Institute) and Anton Pijpers (Utrecht University), in the presence of Johan Garssen (chairman Future Food Utrecht)
Both the Louis Bolk Institute and Utrecht University have earned their stripes when it comes to scientific research on sustainable and healthy food and agriculture transition. By signing this agreement, the parties express their intention to cooperate more intensively and frequently in the future. This cooperation will also facilitate the exchange of students and knowledge. The Louis Bolk Institute and Utrecht University had previously worked together in various projects, but now want to actively expand this further.
Introducing and exploring
After the signing, three researchers from the Louis Bolk Institute presented results from their research after which they discussed them with researchers from Utrecht University. Together, they explored common interests and opportunities for further cooperation, including on the themes ‘herb-rich grasslands’, ‘animal welfare’ and ‘fair food’. The afternoon ended with festive drinks where - as part of a food experiment - sustainable, vegetarian snacks were served.
Platform for scientists
Future Food Utrecht is a community within Utrecht University's strategic theme Pathways to Sustainability It provides a platform where scientists and external stakeholders contribute to the transition in the food chain, for a more sustainable world, through unique transdisciplinary research and education.
Sustainable agriculture, nutrition and health
The Louis Bolk Institute is an independent internationally recognised research institute in the field of sustainable agriculture, nutrition and health. Characteristically, research is carried out with and for practice. In this way, the institute connects science, policy and practice.
