Utrecht University number 1 university in the Netherlands in ShanghaiRanking
According to the ShanghaiRanking, published on 15 August 2024, Utrecht University is the best university in the Netherlands.

On 15 August 2024, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) was published by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. Utrecht University (UU) ranks first in the Netherlands and 55 out of 1,000 in the full ranking.
It has been the trend for a number of years that UU finishes in first place. Besides Utrecht University, several Dutch universities are involved in the ranking. For example, the University of Groningen is at spot 69, followed by Erasmus University Rotterdam, Leiden University, Radboud University Nijmegen and more. See the ranking below.

About the ranking
Since 2003, ARWU has annually presented the world's best universities based on transparent methodology and objective third-party data. This year, more than 2,500 institutions were examined and the best 1,000 universities in the world were published.
